Rental Inspection Fee Status

Apparently the City Council is waiting to see what sort of proposal comes from Chamber of Commerces or property mangers on this. If no proposal is forthcoming, then the proposal as presented to the council gets voted on.

The amount of time they're taking to pass this relative to the gigantic tax increase they just passed is ludicrous.

Ask yourselves this -- if the cost will be passed on to the renters (which the landlords already said will happen), then why do they really care if it gets passed or not? Its not like most renters will move out of town because of a small fee increase. In all honesty, the only reason I can comed up with is that the landlords don't want their properties inspected. That can only suggest that they know they're not up to code (shocking!) and they don't want to spend money following the law.
